I own the DVD and have watched it many times. Yes some of the jokes feel like they are 60 years old and are obvious but there's something magical about this film. Maybe it's because it takes back you to gentler times where raising your hat to a lady once wasn't enough.
Maybe because all of us are really M. Hulot? Maybe it's the funny little musical theme or the way it sends up the proper way to have a summer French "vacance" Maybe it's that no-one is staring at a cell phone.
If you need to escape, this movie is the place. Just thinking about it makes me laugh.
