Review of Misery (1990) by Felipe B — 02 May 2011
I am writing this review to comment Misery, a drama released in 1990 directed by Rob Reiner, which has as main actors James Caan and Kathy Bates. The film is the story of Paul Sheldon, author of the books, which have as main character Misery, who gets involved in a car accident and is rescued by Annie Wilkes, a nurse who says that is his number one fan.
She takes care of him, until the day she asks Paul to read the first version of his new book that was in his suitcase, he allows and she starts reading it, when she discovers that he had killed Misery, she starts to torture him, revealing her psychopath side.
The film is very good, because it shows the wide difference between love and obsession. I recommend Misery because it's exciting and very interesting. It clearly shows that love is not obsession, for this reason, in Brazil the movie is called something like Mad Obsession.
