Review of Midnight Special (2016) by Martin G — 25 May 2016
Midnight Special.
A protective father must take his supernaturally gifted son on the run from a pursuing religious cult and the FBI.
Heavily influenced by Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, writer/director Jeff Nichols presents an intelligent sci-fi/drama/thriller that, like his previous film Mud, allows its actors to breathe life into their characters.
Grade: A-.
Big Al says see Midnight Special in the theatre.
