Review of Metallica: Through the Never (2013) by Olli H — 21 Jan 2014
A concert film with twist, it has a story that runs during the music about a roadie sent to pick an important item for the band during the show. Easy jobs turns to nightmare when the city streets are filled with rioting gangs & police.
My love for Metallica was something that was passed on to me by my father, who still is a big fan of the band. Having hearing the songs over & over during my youth, the brilliance of the songs were etched into my brain. The movie shows that as well, with the insane live performance & visual/real effects during the show that supported the songs perfectly. The story is mainly a music video though, it moves on the super violence & ends with a WTF worthy statement without any sense left at all. Also, there is a McGuffin included.
But if I only watch one Concert/Movie (like I plan to), this was the one. It made me sing, dance, airguitaring, airdrumming & basicly, act like a fan. *Nuff said.
