Review of Mesrine: Public Enemy #1 (2008) by Charles S — 22 Jan 2011
A nice boost to the energy of part I, although Ludivine Sagnier as gun moll and poupee left much to be desired. I liked but wonder about the historical veracity of the finale (which is part I's opening scene, but re-shot at end of part II from the POV of the police): that the right-wing (SAC?) police agents took revenge against Mesrine execution-style (complete with coup de grace) against the wishes of the "good cop" Broussard.
Ending seemed abrupt, but after over 4 hrs, hey, when it's over, it's over!
