Review of Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (2009) by Shawn-Ray M — 01 Nov 2009
It's a movie called "Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus" and it stars Debbie Gibson and Lorenzo Lamas. Odds are if you're watching it you're watching it to see how bad it is (as is the case for most Asylum movies).
It would be easy to throw the director under the bus here, but I'm pretty sure he was intentionally making a bad movie to laugh at, which he succeeds at. There's a point in this movie where the shark jumps out of the ocean and eats a 747.
But despite the bad acting (Debbie Gibson-and yes it's THAT Debbie Gibson-shines by being the best of the worst here) and some of the worst shots, edits, and lighting I've ever seen (some of the lighting just didn't make sense) there's the typical bad movie enjoyment (we are even treated to a montage of 3 scientists basically dumping one colored liquid into another colored liquid without any rhyme or reason to it.
.. aside from the sudden and forced romance that comes from it). If you want a bad sci-fi disaster film to laugh at and enjoy or learn what NOT to do, here you are. If you want a GOOD movie... go elsewhere.
Of course, the title alone should tell you that.
