Review of Mean Streets (1973) by Matt S — 30 Dec 2008
I can see this becoming one of my favorite Scorsese films. It doesn't try to hard to push too many buttons (and it's easy to say that now). For me, the film focused on the story of Johnny Boy and Charlie and Charlie's struggle with faith. I thought this was going to be a gangster movie, but I'm glad I saw it and stopped neglecting it. De Niro and Keitel are great in this movie.
And, dammit, Scorsese is making me want to buy Rolling Stones albums.
