Review of McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) by Keith W — 07 Jan 2009
This is movie I'd like to see again on DVD (with subtitles). I saw on film at a local theater and had a great deal of difficulty understanding the dialogue. I have heard that Altman purposely liked to obscure the sound in group scenes, using an "overlapping dialogue" technique, but I had a hard time understanding the actors when it was just two people in a room. I also had trouble seeing things, maybe because of damage to the print.
I liked the basic storyline and acting, however.
