Review of Married Life (2008) by Peter S — 27 Feb 2009
A respectable (dark) drama with a few lighter moments to balance out the more serious nature of the content. There is however nothing that will stick out in your mind as the story becomes predictable while slowly unraveling.
Marriage is a theme that has been covered umpteen times by Hollywood but this merely scrapes the surface on many different levels without going deep into anything specific (hence not needing much work from the actors), and from this perspective this is quite superficial.
While its evident from several scenes that Sachs has been influenced by Hitchcock's techniques to build up suspense, this is just another reminder of the original suspense master's genius. Imitation is the best form of flattery as they say.
