Review of Mao’s Last Dancer (2009) by Janette L — 17 Feb 2010
Li Cunxin's life from being chosen as a young boy from a Chinese village to study at the Beijing School Of Arts to 'defecting' and being accepted again. Melodramatic but still sweet. The dance sequences are fabulous.
It is always a pleasure to see Joan Chen on screen and Kyle MacLachlan too. Beautifully shot but maybe worth going into the theatre on a rainy day or getting out the dvd.
