Review of Manufacturing Dissent (2007) by Evita L — 23 Oct 2007
Debbie Melnyck's Moore-criticising documentary had the platform and the guns and ammo to fire a whole lot of bullets at Michael Moore. Only around 10% of them hit. She goes out of her way to tell us, in some detail, how Moore fiddles the books and make his facts seem real.
On this level it makes sense and succedds to a degree. But, crying about it as she does, she can never seem to track him down and get him to do an interview. Rubbish. Melnyck has TONS of chances and routinely bottles it on each and every occasion.
She's now Michael Moore, and neither is her documentary. Next time someone makes an anti-Michael moore movie (and there are a few) PLEASE get someone in who at least has the nerve to challenge him and not hug him in defeat to the nearest available camera.
A total missed opportunity.
