Review of Manufacturing Dissent (2007) by Dave M — 09 Jul 2008
How can you trust a movie which appears to be slating Michael Moore's film making technique, which uses Michael Moore's film making technique? The way it's edited, shot, narrated, could all be the work of Moore itself.
Enjoyable enough, but Debbie Melnyk does not have the charisma that Moore possesses so it's nowhere near as watchable as his work. Plus, is it anti-moore, pro, but don't quite trust-moore, or just plain sat on the fence about-moore.
If it's any of the latter two, it's not really the best subject for a documentary, and if it's the first, then it's quite poorly executed, as proved by Melnyk's "Oh my god I just got a hug from Michael Moore!" expression near the end of the movie!
