Review of Maniac Cop (1988) by Tyrone H — 16 Mar 2010
Very atmospheric 80's exploitation fun. A suprisingly good cast led well by Bruce 'if chins could kill' Campbell vs. Robert 'the chin' Z'Dar as the titular antihero. I say antihero becuase there is actually good cause for his rampage, it is however his targetting of the innocent as well as the guilty which makes him 'maniac' rather than your standard revenge thriller.
There are problems with this...for instance, the damage that the maniac cop is able to absorb is never explained and add a supernatural element to this that detracts from the original premise.
