Review of Man with a Movie Camera (1929) by James R — 07 Sep 2011
Absolutely hated this film. I'm definitely going to be in the minority for film buffs who don't like this film, but god damn was this movie not doing anything for me.
Technically it's three movies: the filming of a day in Russia, the film filming that and the audience watching the so called film. I got the concept but what was shown on the screen for an hour was a lot of random shots that made me wonder if I was sitting in my avant garde class still.
Overall, this movie was not the treasure that so many others believe to me. I found it painfully slow, almost to the point of just being a very propaganda like soviet film. Skip this unless you know about the material before hand and even then give it a look.
