Review of Mae Day: The Crumbling of a Documentary (1992) by Mike B — 03 Jun 2007
Even though this was not released to anyone (outside of Mr. Smith's and Mr. Mosier's VFS class) until the release of the Clerks Tenth Ann. DVD, it is still worth talking about. Short in duration, its not really a documentary (or mockumentary, however you want to view it), its more of a short film.
The original idea is genius and very interesting. The preise was to follow a pre-surgery transexual. I personally still can't determine if this actually was a last minute change to a planned documentary or an elaborate hoax by the two directors.
Either way, if you buy the Clerks X DVD, check it out in the special features. Its got a laugh or two in it, (and the intro to in on the DVD is funny as well).
