Review of Extraterrestrial (2014) by Mike B — 28 May 2018
Flipped on this low budget sci-fi/horror on a chance. It opened well enough. I was thrilled to see Gil Bellows, who is always good, in the cast. Michael Ironside is a staple in low-budget stuff, but Gil surprised me. Even with this poorly written material and awful dialogue, he shines. Ironside was also substantially better than this material.
This film is let down by vapid content, clichés upon clichés, and general mediocre acting. Some of the unknowns gave a good effort, but the whole comes up well-short of mediocre. The ubiquitous addition of Marijuana was no surprise, but a huge turnoff, as was the endless cursing, and shaky cam character filming of the film.
It'd be nice to be pleasantly surprised by an intelligent, original, low-budget Sci-Fi or horror. This wasn't it.
