Review of Lust for Life (1956) by Calvin C — 29 Jul 2013
The creative eye of Vincente Minnelli is enough to see this film, but to have Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn makes it more of a must-see. Kirk Douglas alone gives one of his best performances as the talented, but troubled artist. The film could have gone deeper into Van Gogh's psyche, but Douglas plays him well enough and is mesmerizing to watch.
