Review of Lust for Life (1956) by Joel A — 09 Oct 2012
A fascinating & turbulent biopic of the legendary painter Vincent Van Gogh.
This is a terrific intense performance from Kirk Douglas & who better than to direct this artistic, visual production than the master of color & music Vincent Minnelli.
This film wasn't afraid of presenting the tortured flawed man he was as well as contrasting his strengths.
The look & art direction of this film was gorgeous & stunning to look at & I believe many actual pieces of Van Gogh's where included in the film.
A storm of a film & fascinating portrait of a man completely lost & obsessed in his art.
