Review of Love & Mercy (2015) by Riley R — 27 Jul 2017
Expecting a lukewarm, forgettable biopic which served mainly to broaden my knowledge of the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson legacy, I was more than pleasantly surprised to see that this film had a strong artistic vision of its own, a piece of art in its own right rather than a simple retelling of one.
Unique and thoughtful cinematography, editing and pacing, as well as breathtaking performances from John Cusack and Paul Dano, gave this lovingly crafted film an artistic take on an informative and often simple genre.
