It's probably well-acted, but I'm just not sure. The confusing, enigmatic film that is Gosling's directorial debut, #lostriver, is clearly influenced by Refn and Cianfrance, but it misses the heart aspect of the characters that these auteurs comprehend.
Gosling seems in over his head.
