Review of Lost in La Mancha (2002) by Kelly S — 31 Aug 2007
To be honest, somehow I was expecting more of an epic journey into failure - while the film they were making was certainly interesting, I didn't feel like we'd seen enough heart & soul invested into the creation of it to really feel the loss as the project fell apart. Sure, we were TOLD Gilliam had been working on this for ten years (several times); but I felt it skimmed over the emotion of what they were going through to some extent.
Much as you'd expect a 'documentary featurette' to do, granted - but a bit more insight after the fact might have added to the overall impact of the film this became...but I did love the three giants.
