Review of Lost in La Mancha (2002) by Ryan V — 16 Feb 2012
Adapting the classic adventures of Don Quixote for the silver screen has proven to be a doomed project for many great filmmakers. This documentary, narrated by Jeff Bridges, details the futile efforts of Terry Gilliam to bring his Don Quixote screenplay to fruition.
The subject may be a bit dry for some, but for cinephiles this story provides fascinating insight into the challenges of making a movie. Overall, however, the main feeling one gets from Lost in La Mancha is the hope that Gilliam's The Man Who Killed Don Quixote somehow gets made someday.
