Review of Lord of Illusions (1995) by Geraldine A — 24 Aug 2010
For all its flaws the good out weigh them, and Lord Of Illusions is actually a good film. Its original, well directed and the optical effects for its age are better than most shit today. Ive never been Gung Ho to see this film and to a point ive never really gone out of my way to see it.
But now that I have I think Barker shouldnt waste time and he should get in the directors chair again. Hellraiser is a masterpiece and Lord Of Illusions is just a damn good time. Barker mixes film Noir styles with horror and achieves successful results.
The story is dark and the acting is at times something to be desired but the film has heart. And thats what a true film fan recognizes.
