Review of Lord of Illusions (1995) by Matt F — 25 Apr 2010
A bit of a disappointment, but I guess you can't win 'em all. There's still a lot of redeeming features within this film, written and directed by Clive Barker and based on the adventures on one of his most beloved (and my personal favourite) characters.
The concept and storyline is brilliant and there are definitely some gripping and provocative moments. But this film certainly hasn't aged well, and a bit of bad acting and cheesy special effects really let things down.
It's still worth seeing, however, for all Clive Barker fans and fans of fantasy-horror in general.
