Marginally interesting storyline is absolutely sunk by Michael Crichton's pedestrian direction. Say what you will about Crichton the Author but Crichton the Director had no sense of plot, pacing...or casting. The movie could have been 45 minutes long but Crichton takes an eternity to get a scene constructed.
It's interesting that the movie really did predict the future of advertising in many ways...but sheesh...I just can't get over how inexcusably slow it was.
