Review of Looker (1981) by Kathryn K — 20 May 2012
One of my top 80's science-fiction action/thrillers. Finney makes a great lead being so unlikely for a dynamic action type and the schlocky sets and props belie a rather clever and complex plot that has a lot to say about 80's cosmetic surgery and the corrupt world of advertising.
Crichton is a great writer but an uninspired director and does little with camera and yet the plot is enough to carry the flick. One movie I would dearly love to see remade with more action and heavier on the biting social commentary.
