Review of Friday Foster (1975) by Kevin R — 19 Feb 2014
These are the days the walls come tumbling down.
Friday Foster is a former model turned photographer. While taking pictures at an event a senator is gunned down. Later a childhood friend and the richest black man in America is also gun down. Friday works with local friends in DC to try to get to the bottom of these murders. She will have to put her profession, body, and life on the line to get to the bottom of the case, but she's willing to do it!
"He said it's a matter of life and death...his.".
Arthur Marks, director of Detroit 9000, J. D.'s Revenge, The Monkey Hustle, Class of 74, Bucktown, and episodes of Perry Mason, delivers Friday Foster. The storyline for this picture is just okay and a bit cheesy at times. The action scenes were below average, as was the acting. The cast includes Pam Grier, Yaphet Kotto, Eartha Kitt, Jim Backus, Scatman Crothers, and Ted Lange.
"Sex is on the male mind every other minute and on the girl's mind every other second...".
I love these old blaxploitation pictures and definitely watch them when I get a chance. This is far from one of the better pictures from this genre and I'd actually recommend skipping this film. The story was too cliché and the film doesn't really add much to the genre.
"My bitche...ladies, don't think their man has lost his mind.".
Grade: C-.
