Review of Lonely Hearts (2006) by Terror A — 22 May 2007
This is a well made and solid film that takes a look at the infamous "Lonely Heart Killers Ray Fernandez (Jared Leto) and Martha Beck (Salma Hayek) and as well as the two cops who are on their trail (John Travolta, James Gandolfini).
The acting is solid: Travolta, Gandolfini and Leto are quite good in their roles but the best performance here belongs to Hayek who is amazing as Beck, her performance was both intense and even scary (IMO she should be nominated for an Oscar for this).
Despite all that the film does have its flaws, the subplot involving Travolta's character's family life wasn't that interesting and I wish that they focused more Fernandez and Beck instead, as they were more intriguing.
Still it is an engaging film that kept my interest and there are some great scenes as well.
