(1983) Lonewolf McQuade.
ACTION.
After a second or third viewing after many years, this is the best American made inspiration of Sergio Leone's "The Good The Bad And The Ugly" style of spaghetti I had ever seen so far, from the very first opening whistles shown on the introduction to the final 5 minutes, Leone would've been proud of it! When good 'whistles' appear over Norris's presence and the nasty music whenever it's on the Carradine character is just as new, athentic and original as one could ever hear it! Sometimes forgetting that it's a homage to Leone than as a Chuck Norris picture! But as first starring roles is concerned, "Code of Silence" was the best Chuck Norris film with this film coming in a close second since this one is more stylistically entertaining than most conventional action picures, that even though there is alot of action in it, it's filmed with a different style as opposed to other action films.
In my opinion, it was this film and "Code of Silence" which motivated studios to put Chuck Noris into his own sydicated television show called "Walker Texas Ranger". Few of the problems are that although the "set ups" in this film are quite nice to look at, the pay-offs are not very good like for instance the end fight between Chuck Norris and real life jiu jitsu expert David Carridine of the series "Kung Fu" is not as thrilling as say Chuck and Bruce Lee in "Return of the Dragon". Some of the best scenes was Chuck (obviously using a stunt double) hanging onto the back of the ford truck while swerving Chuck around and when the bad guys cover Chuck and his partner inside the Ford Bronco with sand pounded into the ground -a scene I've never saw before about how they got themselves out using the same motor contraption as Max does in the "Road Warrior" movie to make his car go faster. The only thing that could've made this film great was that the fight scenes could've been handled in the same manner or as realistic as the one in "Return of the Dragon".
This film gets a high B or.
3 out of 4.
