Review of London to Brighton (2006) by Mike B — 09 Aug 2007
At its essence it is a tale of a young cub getting lost in the wild meeting a slightly older but wiser cub and the adventures they get up too but make no mistake this is no animated fairytale rather a dark and gritty film that deals with many of society's taboos.
Initially shot on a budget of 60 000 Quid the film style is almost docudrama like but it is that closeness of the camera to the subject and the genuineness of the characters and seemingly unscripted dialogue peppered with colloquialisms and expletives that grips and keeps you engrossed for the entire film.
The director Paul Williams and Georgia Groome both should really get a mention at the bafta's for their respective contributions to this production. The one word synopsis would be "Masterful".
