Review of Lolita (1962) by Nick F — 10 Oct 2009
Peter Sellers keeps showing up like the Trix Rabbit, and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh in the middle of this moral thriller.
The movie succeeds in making you uncomfortable and antsy, as you are forced to identify with the pedophile on the run, but it was like watching The Firm or Panic Room, with Jim Carrey as one of the bad guys, doing a bit every twenty minutes.
Sellers is very talented, and his characters, especially in Dr. Strangelove, are great, but just terribly out of place here. I was kinda hoping to find another review that said that, but I didn't see one.
