Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Daniel K — 16 Mar 2010
"Logan's Run" was one of my favorite film as a kid and I still love it today. It tells of a future where at age 30 everyone attend Lastday to see if you will be killed or renewed. The police, called Sandmen, search out and kill Runners, people who decide they want to live a bit longer and seek out Sanctuary.
Now this plot may sound silly and farfetched but by darn, it's a lot of fun. Michael York plays Logan, a sandman who is sent on a mission to see if Sanctuary actually exixts and Jenny Agutter is Jessica, the beautiful damsel who helps him.
I was so in love with her I actually wrote her a fan letter. Never got a reply. They are chased every step of the way by sandman Francis (Richard Jordan). This is no landmark film but I liked it better than STAR WARS and saw it over and over.
Oh and for all you fans of the late Farrah Fawcett, she has a small role as Holly. I'm almost certain this film won an Oscar for its special effects and spawned a short lived TV series which you can catch on YOUTUBE.
I have this on dvd and Blu-Ray and the Blu -Ray looks incredible. Directed by Michael Anderson and released by MGM. Rated PG.
