Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Daniel V — 12 Aug 2014
Logan's Run is actually quite boring and silly. Some parts are fun and I wish I would've enjoyed myself more because I love cheesy Sci-Fi especially if it came from the 70s and 80s but I couldn't past one completely absurd story point.
Why the hell is Logan running? Oh I understand he's the the hero and the endgame is to expose the ridiculous way this society controls their population. Basically, you turn 30 you die but you are reborn.
Of course Logan discovers this is complete bullshit. Anyhoo, there are people who see this practice as the stupid belief it is and they run, so guess what we call them, yep... Runners. Logan is a Sandman, kind of a police force that chases down Runners and stops them from running, permanently.
Logan is tasked with the mission of finding Sanctuary, a haven outside the city that is rumored to be full of Runners. Also, even though he is only 26 he has been selected for rebirth and they never explain why.
So of course he is going to run. So absurd and boring but at lest it's pretty.
