Review of Life Itself (2014) by Ian G — 25 Jul 2014
When it comes to life and times documentaries, Life Itself has it all, warts and all, for one of the titans if not the titan of film criticsm Roger Ebert and nimbly goes between his body of work and its impact in a time where film criticsm wasnt necessarily feted as just journalism, along with his passions within the industry for the Cannes Fest, and getting into heated debates for films he loved and hated with long time partner Gene Siskel, but also how important and impactful his relationship is and was with his wife Chaz, especially during his battle with Cancer.
Very uplifting and heartbreaking not just for film geeks but just for people in general who deal with battles like Robert did and the fact he asked the filmmakers not to flinch added that much to it. Brilliant.
