Review of Life Is Beautiful (1997) by Nandi C — 04 Apr 2012
Say what you want, you cannot help but smile at this movie; Benigni plays an Italian Jewish man who woos the woman he wants although she is of another class. they have a son together, and WW2 keeps on going until they take Benigni, the son and uncle to a concentration camp in the last days of WW2.
Now, the wife wasn't Jewish, but because of her love for them, she makes the Nazis allow her on the cattle cars. Now here is where it gets a bit funny. Begnini tells his son that they were in a game, and that the winner of the game will win a big tank to basically shield him from the actual horrors of war.
Well at the end of the movie, imagine how this little fella feels despite all that has happened to him.
