Review of Life Is Beautiful (1997) by Sarfaraz A — 01 Sep 2012
Life Is Beautiful (La vita è bella) Italian film directed and co-written by Roberto Benigni. In 1999, Film won several awards, including Best Actor for Benigni, Best Original Dramatic Score and for Best Foreign Language Film.
Roberto Benigni stars as an Italian Jewish Chaplinesque character who charms a beautiful teacher. Benigni and his wife and child are sent to a concentration camp. To protect his son, he instructs him to hide during the day.
I always wonder at the behind-the-scene personality of Benigni, and I always wish to see those clips to further my interest of being amused by his charming humor and wit. While generally in professional way I think his performance was average, not worthy of winning Oscar Award (and I'm not being rude while saying all this). Setup of movie is brilliant, though we hardly see any major work on its production.
