Review of Life Is Beautiful (1997) by Allie B — 04 May 2013
Roberto Benigni does an excellent job portraying such a sensitive topic as the Holocaust in a more light hearted view that gives the viewer a different idea of what actually went on during these times.
Roberto Benigni was able to effectively utilize different angles such as the long shot to show how helpless Guido was at times. The way the characters are portrayed are so different compared to other stories told about the Holocaust such as Maus by Art Speigelman.
Maus tells of characters living in fear while "Life is Beautiful" takes an alternate route and Roberto Benigni uses "Guido" to change the aspect of the story and complete what to me is a masterpiece of a movie.
