Review of Let It Be (1970) by Daniel H — 18 Jul 2009
A piece of rock and roll history, this documentary chronicles the way the Beatles put together the songs of what would turn out to be the last album that would be released by them. The performances of the title track is a poignant moment itself, and it's wonderful to see the Beatles getting inspiration with their friend Billy Preston. Given how tense things were within the group, his visit was just what was needed.
I wonder if the Londoners who witnessed the climactic rooftop performance realized that it would be their last ever live performance as a band. The majority of songs show the Beatles getting back to their roots, i.e. simple rock and roll, and it works!!
