Review of Let It Be (1970) by Luis G — 25 Feb 2011
Let It Be is a great documentary, but for the last Beatles film, it feels a little lacking and a feeling of wanting more.
Let It Be is filmed in a "fly on the wall" perspective, meaning there's no script or planned scenes. The film is composed of recording studio videos and film of the infamous Rooftop Concert.
Oy, this is one of the more depressing films I've watched. Yeah, they're still performing fantastic music. But they look so miserable. It's easy to tell that they're run down and tired of this gig. Other than that, Let It Be is a great documentary that gives us a raw look at the end days of the most famous band in the world.
Yeah, you get the idea. If you're a Beatles fan, you'll probably enjoy this. But this is no candidate for the "feel good film of the summer". If you're okay with feeling dang depressed after the movie, go and watch it. (Real rating: 79%).
