Review of Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man (2006) by Donna . — 14 Oct 2008
A brilliant documentary/star-tribute to the wonderful Leonard Cohen aka "Godfather of Gloom.".
All the performances of his songs sung by a diversity of artists were a surprising revelation, which just shows how timeless and universal his sound and lyrics truly are. I had dreaded pale imitations of Leonard's music, but every artist was able to find and breathe new life into each song. I particularly loved Anthony's touching version of If It Be Your Will.
Bono's praises for Cohen were a little cringey, a complete contrast to Cohen himself who was surprisingly very modest and self-doubting about his obvious brilliance. *****.
