Review of Lenny (1974) by Alexander J — 10 Jun 2007
Everything about this movie speaks to me. The (quite modern) editing style mixing picture and sound in a unique way, the skillful cast (above all a Hoffman shining in his best role EVER), a real-life tragedy featuring based on one of America's most famous and discussed comedians.
But I don't believe that Bruce was a comedian. He didn't do silly jokes, he spoke his mind and that's what made him so special. Simple recipe, yet rarely executed. Effective, impressive, solid and hardly known.
What a loss.
