Review of Lenny (1974) by Sherif N — 08 Mar 2013
Although not a film for solely entertainment purposes, Lenny is a superbly acted and directed film biography of Lenny Bruce, showing the man's good ideas, such as war and violence being more obscene than sex and people leaving organized religion coming closer to God, as well as his obsession with the law, which bankrupted him, and his drug use, which killed him.
The use of interviews and black and white photography gave the movie a documentary spin. I've wanted to see this film ever since I saw All That Jazz, the biopic about Bob Fosse, and Lenny did not disappoint.
