Review of Lenny (1974) by Jon H — 03 Dec 2008
I had always been a fan of Lenny Bruce, though never appreciated exactly what was so provocative, this film beautifully puts this in to context and highlights why he was so groundbreaking. Hoffman illustrates what a great actor he is and can be when not making ill-fated comedies.
Fosse's direction is impeccable, creating a stand-up version of Raging Bull. This film is greatly overlooked as a masterpiece.
