Review of Lenny (1974) by Charles C — 02 Oct 2011
A powerful docudrama about the life of Lenny Bruce. The direction and editing perfectly merge with the films events to pull you in and trigger your emotions. There's a sense of foreboding throughout the movie that's not completely there because we know how it has to end; Throughout the whole movie there's a dark cloud hanging over everyone involved with Bruce.
Dustin Hoffman gives an extremely passionate performance, one of his best. This movie will definitely pull you in mentally and emotionally. It's just like the man himself; It gets in your face, makes you deal with it, and leaves an impression.
