Review of Leap Year (2010) by Jao R — 14 Mar 2013
Besides the fact that it is one of my friend and I's favorite movies, I think it is a movie that it all too under-celebrated. The relationship between the two main characters is enticing and "fire and ice" as I call it. Through a good part of the film they are at odds due to their conflicting personalities and ways of life. How does it end? Well I can't tell you or it would be a spoiler, but it was one that while some are accusing it as being "cliche", it fit the nature of their relationship, and personally I don't think it's as cliche as everyone says.
There is never a dull moment with this movie, and while you may see some things coming, you anticipate it and still enjoy it when it happens. For once there's a movie that doesn't bog itself down with side-plots, dragged-out plot and character development, and it doesn't rely on special affects or flashy scenery to make up for plot. In truth, it doesn't need to.
If you are looking for a movie to curl up with on a Saturday night with hot tea and a good friend, here's the movie for you. (And I'll be honest, me and my friend were sighing over Matthew Goode and his irish accent the whole time. :3).
