Review of Leap (2017) by Adam M — 25 Aug 2017
This movie is a real plié of crap!!
The story has a few moments of potential heart, and then it jetes out the window and crashes. The animation leaves much to be desired. The words spoken are not in sync with the movement of the mouths. It looks like a bad version of a Bruce Lee movie!
And then there's the mountain of historical inaccuracies. First, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty were NOT being built in France at the same time. Lady Liberty was already constructed in NY Harbor by the time construction started on the Eiffel Tower. Second, the Statue of Liberty was NOT green when she was first constructed. That happened after many decades of erosion of the copper from the salt water. Third- the Emma Lazarus poem The New Colossus wasn't made famous until it was installed on the pedestal of Lady Liberty in 1903. Children in France would not have been able to recite that poem during the original construction of the Statue in France.
There are hundreds of animated movies worth viewing. This one just leaps to a painful death!!
