Review of L'Avventura (1960) by Caitlin F — 30 Sep 2007
One of the best Italian films of all time. One of Antonioni's best. The film is an "adventure" itself. Monica Vitti is absolutely wonderful and engages elegance. Antonioni's themes (silence) is wonderfully placed here.
This isn't a typical film with a complete ending. It leaves us in another plot. Claudia (Vitti) takes the lead after her best friend is missing and as an audience, we seem to forget her friend even exists in a totally unpretentious way.
Its a very important film, especially in the new wave era.
