Review of L'Avventura (1960) by Anthony I — 02 Nov 2015
You just can't deny it's excellence. This is a beautifully made film. The actors do a magnificent job. The cinematography is purely Antonioni. The first half hour, out at sea, is the most breathtaking to me.
Even in black and white, Antonioni captures the absolutely beauty of the Tyrrhenian Sea. So remote and towering are the rocks in which the cast of characters aimlessly search for the lost Anna. The forbidden love story however, at least to me, doesn't come across as that memorable.
But it is a story you have to stick with, for the very end of the movie will leave you with chills down your spine.
