Review of L'Avventura (1960) by Nicky S — 25 Jan 2014
It's a great movie. Beautiful (really beautiful) cinematography, great acting, and really lovely architecture, as well as meaningful commentary on the vapidness of some people's lives. Here's the problem though - it's a pretty boring story, and can be frustratingly slow at times.
Also, the plot doesn't really move much, we know nothing of what happens to Anna, and the last five minutes or so are very inconclusive. Overall, it has first-class, groundbreaking cinematography and great performances, but in the end, it's kinda boring.
Technically great, story-wise, not so much.
