Review of L'Atalante (1934) by Michael O — 14 Nov 2007
What's the big deal? Either it's poetry or it's lame. Rarely is a movie so polarizing and hell if I know why. Yes it's poetic and yes it's tedious but in my opinion it isn't the most fantastic picture of I've ever seen in my life.
So what's all the hullabaloo? It's intangible, it's in the way it drives people to a myriad of passions. Makes it worthwhile for reputation alone I guess.
